What makes Tortola so much different from all of the other islands in the Caribbean?
Of all the Caribbean islands, Tortola always has me coming back for more, and it gets me every time. Tortola is the island that just pulls at your heartstrings. Here are the white-sand beaches, such as Cane Garden Bay, that dream vacations are made of.
If you only need three reasons to discover Tortola, consider the beautiful beaches, crystal-clear blue water, and amazing weather. If you need more than those three reasons to go, I invite you to visit my website and read in more detail about Tortola, vacationtortola.com.
The pace of life is slow on this Caribbean island, and certainly if you don't want to spend the day on a beach, there are plenty of other activities.
Tortola is famous for limin. The natives have been doing it here for decades. Tortolans have taught quite a few tourists how to enjoy themselves while on island time. It is no wonder s many visitors, just like you, return again and again.
For people like me, limin means lying under a palm tree, quite possibly in a hammock, while drinking a refreshing island drink. It is as near to paradise on earth as you could eve find, and every time I think about how absolutely relaxed I feel while on Tortola, a smile easily comes across my face.
The Caribbean Surfing Crowd
Cane Garden Bay offers an abundance of hot surfing potential, if you manage to visit on the right tide and swell. You will find this surf break located just north of Apple Bay. Apple Bay is another awesome break that can hold a swell a bit longer.
The Bomba Shack is a well-known Caribbean beach destination. The surfing crowd has been coming here from the very start.
Full moon parties happen every month at the local hangouts. But, be cautioned, this is an adult atmosphere so maybe leave the kids out of this party. One of these hangout spots, Bomba's, is famous not only for their full moon parties, but also their mushroom tea (said to have hallucinogenic qualities).
People are everywhere during these full moon parties. And how often do they happen? Every full moon! The crowds seem not too different from a Mardi Gras celebration. If you like to let your hair down, and howl at the moon, this is for you!
Activities Abound
Set sail in the clear calm waters of Tortola. It is easy to find a decent rental bareboat to powerboat and everything in between. These Virgin Islands are famous for their world-class sailing waters.
Consider taking a relaxing day sail to one of the great snorkeling spots nearby. Pack a lunch and grab a water-rated camera for some of the photographic opportunities of your life.
These British Virgin Islands are home to more than 100 excellent dive spots, if that is your passion. A wide variety of exotic sites, many interesting caves and reefs to explore along with amazing coral turrets and underwater lava tunnels.
History buffs will be content with the many historical sites on Tortola, each with their own story to tell. I suggest hooking up with a tour to get the most benefit from your stay here.
