Microsoft Outlook uses PST (Personal Storage Table) file as its message store for all e-mail items, notes, calendar items, journals and other Outlook objects. It implements a special internal folder structure to manage the file. But the file can get corrupt due to unexpected shutdown, hard disk errors, Outlook issues, placing it over network and other similar reasons. In such situations, Outlook starts behaving in an abrupt manner and also fails to receive or send e-mail messages. To restore the PST file, you need to use your recent file backup. However, if backup is non-existent, damaged or not updated, Outlook PST Repair tools can be used as complete file repair solutions.

As a practical scenario, when you try to send an e-mail message, you might receive the following error:

"Could not send the message"

You can’t send the e-mail message after the occurrence of the above error.

Cause

The above error message occurs if one of the following conditions is true:

• The Internet e-mail account you are using is not properly configured in Outlook
• There are some connectivity issues with your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
• You are using a damaged or corrupted PST

Solution

You need to follow these steps to correct the problem:

• Troubleshoot Outlook configuration issues. You can perform steps like checking your Internet connection, setting TCP/IP as your default protocol, creating a new profile, checking your profile for multiple services etc.
• You should check for proper connectivity with your ISP server.
• If PST corruption is the issue, you need to run Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to detect and repair the PST corruption. If this tool can’t correct the corruption, use the recent data backup to restore the healthy copy of the PST file. However, if these measures fail because of backup unavailability or corruption, you need to use Outlook Recovery tools.

Outlook PST Repair applications are advanced utilities to scan and repair damaged PST files. Such applications use high-end scanning algorithms to examine and repair the file corruption. They provide features like interactive interface, complete and to-the-point documentation, automated recovery procedure and user-friendly options.
