Summer is upon us. It’s refreshing to cook our meals without making the house unbearably warm. Now is as good of a time as any to start thinking about the benefits of outdoor grilling. Outdoor grilling keeps the heat outside. It also offers the opportunity for the family to enjoy the cooking process together.

Mom is happy when summer comes around because that’s when Dad wants to help out with the cooking. Honestly, Dad is usually happier to cook outside on the grill than inside at a hot stove. The best part is that there isn't as much mess with grilling. And what mess there is, stays out of Mom's kitchen. So Mom wins... twice. She gets the night off from cooking and cleaning up!

Grilling is also a fun way for the kids to get in on cooking and cleaning up. Using paper plates and bowls make for simple clean up. Your little ones can help too. Taking utensils to the cook, unpacking condiments, and setting the picnic table, are all things that will make them feel helpful.

Enjoying the outdoors, while grilling, is a wonderful way to relax after a long day. It's so nice not to have to worry about messes. And you know the animals will eat anything that gets dropped or spilled. But don't grill just on weekends. It can be a relaxing break in your week.

Grilling has limitless possibilities. Off hand I cannot think of a single meat or vegetable that you cannot cook on the grill or over an open fire. And there are many fruits that are very tasty this way.

Don't forget all the great summertime side dishes. Baked beans, potato salad, and corn on the cob are all favorites. Add cool deserts, fresh fruit and pies to make the meal complete.

A fun way to get together with family and friends is having a cookout. Next time you want everyone together, grill out! Great food, good friends and no muss or fuss. So get out the kiddy pool, fire up the grill and invite everyone over!

There’s nothing like the aroma of good food cooking on the grill. If you have a hard time recalling that sweet aroma, it's been too long. Just remember grilling out is not meant to be a chore, make it an enjoyable experience.

So if you haven't cooked on the grill in a while, grab some grilled chicken recipes, call up your family and friends, fire up your old trusty grill, and get to it! And have a great summer!
