There's not an expectant mother alive who hasn't had some anxiety about her baby's health. She wonders whether her baby will be born healthy. Thoughts that never entered her mind are now present.

Nine months of pregnancy seems an eternity when you get that little pink positive on the test stick. In this day and age, we no longer have to wait until we start having symptoms of pregnancy, which can start as late as 8 or 10 weeks for some. Instead, we have pregnancy tests that will determine a positive just days after conception. This can make the pregnancy journey seem even longer!

While you are growing, suffering morning sickness and anxiously awaiting the new addition to the family, here are a few ways to memorialize your pregnancy; both for yourself and to pass along to the child in the future.

If you have been using any form of contraception you will obviously need to stop!

You are most likely to conceive if you have intercourse around 5 days before you ovulate. And many doctors advise having sex 2-3 times a week throughout your cycle to stand the best chance of conception.

A pregnant woman should avoid extremes. According to Krause’s Food, Nutrition and Diet Therapy, a low-birth-weight baby’s risk of death is 40 times greater than that of a normal-weight newborn. On the other hand, eating for two only promotes obesity. Proper weight gain—more evident from the second trimester on—indicates that the expectant mother is eating the right amount for her increased demands.

Funny maternity clothes need not necessarily be expensive, as you may get funny maternity t-shirts for less than $30! There are t-shirts that have inscriptions such as "not in a good mood", "baby on board", "I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?", " I'm making a human, what did you do today?", "Already smarter than Bush", "I just wanted a back rub" etc. There are funny clothes available for the father of the child too, with funny inscriptions such as "See how my boys swim," "Man behind the belly"; "My pregnant wife scares me" etc.

Make sure that you get your prenatal vitamins, they are very important during pregnancy. If for some reason you can't take them, talk with your doctor he/she may be able to prescribe a lower dosage or something else. You'll get your first ultrasound around week 20, this is normally when you find out what sex the baby is.

If you have always enjoyed taking photos with your family, this can turn out to be your best family photo ever. Take the first picture, asking them to "Say Cheese!"

Then, for the second photo, say, "Everyone say, Lucy's pregnant!" Take a quick snapshot--you'll get a great, stunned look on everyone's faces.

Show up to a family gathering wearing a shirt that announces "Baby on Board" or something related to the pregnancy. The moment you walk in or take off your jacket everyone will figure it out without you ever having to say a word. Be prepared to answer a ton of questions.
