Nokia N96 v/s LG KM900 Arena - Fight among equals

Ever since the advent of mobiles, the world has become a much smaller albeit smarter place. But with new mobiles hitting the market each day, it becomes confusing for the customer to decide which one to go for. Two popular mobile phone manufacturers who have always given us the best, most reliable mobile phones are Nokia and Samsung. Both of them have constantly been giving us state of the art gadgets with all the latest features. Two mobile phones we will be comparing today are the Nokia N96 v/s LG KM900 Arena.

The N96 is a beautiful 3G smartphone which comes with a cool dual-slide mechanism. It is compact and easy to hold with dimensions of 103 x 55 x 18 mm and weighs 125 grams which is quite light compared to the innumerable features installed on it. The front of this phone is adorned by a stunning QVGA LCD TFT screen with a size of 2.8 inches and a 16 million color display and a high colour resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.

The LG KM900 Arena is also a 3G smartphone with superb imaging features. It has a larger touchscreen at 3 inches which also displays 16M colours but at a higher resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which give the pictures eagle eye clarity. It's sleeker with dimensions of 105.9 x 55.3 x 12 mm and is lighter than the N96 weighing just 105 grams.

Both of them are 3G Smartphones and work on a quad band (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 ) and 3G HSPDA network, and have similar connectivity features like GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSPDA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology and USB port. All these features help the user to take part in high speed data transfer and surf the net and visit their favourite sites while on the go. The Nokia N96, unlike the LG Arena works on a Symbian operating system with a Dual ARM 9 264 MHz processor and 128 MB RAM which makes the functioning and feature accessibility a lot smoother.

Both mobiles have state-of-the-art integrated cameras, both 5 Megapixel with Autofocus and LED flash and capture high quality pictures and videos. The N96 has Carl Zeiss optics while the Arena has Schneider-Kreuznach optics. The LG KM900 Arena has added features like Geo-tagging, image stabilization ,etc. There is a secondary camera on the front of both handsets which can be used for taking self portraits or for taking part in interactive 3G video-calls with other such users.

The Nokia N96 has an excellent music player with good sound quality and is capable of playing various music formats like MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC and M4A. The LG Arena is also equipped with a music player which plays MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA formats and has a Dolby Mobile sound enhancement feature which gives it excellent music quality. Both have very interesting in-built games which the user can play for hours. The N96 has an option of downloading games plus it is N-Gage compatible so the gamers might feel a bit biased towards it.

Both phones have a huge memory space, but in the clash of Nokia N96 v/s LG KM900 Arena the N96 is the winner with internal memory of 16 GB as compared to 8Gb of the LG Arena. There is enough space in both mobiles to store loads of songs, videos, pictures, even entire movies. The N96 is expandable by another 8 GB while the LG Arena is expandable by an immense 32 GB using a MicroSd memory card.

Both the N96 and the LG Arena are JAVA enabled phones with various features like TV-OUT, Document Viewer, Organiser, etc. Both of them have standard Li-Ion batteries, when fully charged the Nokia N96 gives a talktime of 3.5 hours, a standby time of 220 hours and a music playback time of 14 hours while the LG KM900 Arena gives a talktime of 3 hours 50 minutes, standby time of 300 hours and a music playback time of 30 hours.

Thus after comparing Nokia N96 v/s LG KM900 Arena we come to the conclusion that although both are highly efficient state of the art gadgets with the latest technological features and loads of entertainment features, they have their own advantages and disadvantages and a choice can only be made by the customer.
