Let’s talk about building Godly confidence!

The older you get, wisdom teaches you that confidence is built on the foundation of good meaningful relationship.

Since confidence is about trust and faith in someone, it is difficult to walk this path of faith if no real relationship exists.

Once there is a true connection between you and the person or thing that you have faith in, you develop a trust that allows you to rely on them to perform and do what that have said they would do. Confidence in God, or Godly confidence is built in a similar fashion.

Once we understand that first fact, it leads us to also understand that when we don't have any self confidence, all it it really means that we don’t even trust ourselves to do what you think you can…that’s a very sad case. But now, because we understand that confidence is based on relationship, then lack of confidence must be the result of little or no relationship.

Let's take a deeper look at this relationship confidence building idea…

Have you ever seen a child in his father’s arms? Now imagine the father throwing the kid up into the air and catching him again before he hits that ground. Most of us has had a similar experience growing up as kids, it’s a mixture between fun and fear. The child feels good rising high into the air and it is fun, then he feels fearful coming down because the ground is rushing towards him and he already knows the pain of falling.

But just before he hits the ground, strong arms catch him and he is safe. Then like most children on the planet, he makes a really crazy decision and scream out again daddy…again!

This relationship between father and son grows stronger and stronger with each mid-air catch as the child learns to rely on the fact that Dad won’t let me hit the ground. So these experiences produce confidence in the father.

Our confidence in God grows the exact same way. As children, God clearly shows us that He has our best interest at heart; we go through rough times and He shows up to help us and and confirm to us that we are not alone. This connected relationship brings us to a point where we believe and trust in His words. If He says so, we believe it is so, simply because He has already proven to us that He stands behind His words.

Godly confidence is built through personal connection and relationship with God – the way we connect and relate to Him opens doors for us to prove His love in our lives and experience all that He has for us.
