The colon is a very important organ. It's job quite simply impacts your entire body. To work effectively your body must be able to process foods and drinks in an efficient manner. Additionally, the results or impact of contamination upon it would bring dire results not to mention death. When a patients blood gets contaminated from waste that backs up into the blood stream the patients system responds with alarm, shock and may ultimately become toxic.

TO prevent these conditions from happening the colon diet needs to be one filled with fruits, vegetables, and beans ( kidney and navy are great), yogurt and such. We've listed an entire grocery list for you to be able to print off and just go down and mark what you'd like to buy for your shopping trip.

Take a moment and print out this list. Mark off what you would like to try this week and slowly grow into adding two or more of these items to your base diet. You'll see an almost instant change after about a week.

  • Apples

  • Apricots

  • Beans (kidney and navy beans are great for the colon)

  • Cabbage

*Cantaloupe

  • Citrus fruit

*Cranberries or cranberry juice (watch out for the high added sugars with juices)

*Flax seed

*Green tea

  • Sweet potatoes

  • Whole grains

  • Yogurt

To keep in mind a few tips though would be essential to any good colon friendly foods. The idea here is simply to keep it fresh. Choose fruits that are fresh versus canned or frozen. Now if you cannot obtain fresh fruits and vegetables due to price or seasonal constraints, then the frozen or canned varieties will have to do. They are better than not fruits or vegetables at all.

Next you should try to increase your intake of vegetables or fruits that are the right colors. The right color here is GREEN. You see the green produce has chlorophyll, this is just another very important ingredients for a colon diet to get a super boost. By itself, chlorophyll can aid in healing the damaged intestinal lining and the colon.

Finally, while at the market you should pick up some bottled water. The water you choose is often the subject of debate. Now you have carbonated waters, vitamin waters, sugary waters etc. You should avoid high salt and sugar containing beverages as they'll just cause you to retain more liquids over the long run. Opt for plain old water if you can get it without any additives.

As you can see a colon diet consistent with the above tips is key to your health. Doing so with little incremental steps is always a good way to go about changing your former habits into very healthy ones.
