Honestly, can you ever get too much Doctor Who? Surely not, and if you are a big Dr. Who fan then you are anxiously awaiting the release of the Doctor Who Black Guardian Trilogy DVD next month. August 10th is the big release date, and Who fans have already placed their pre-order for this exciting release.
There are three great DVDs in this box set. Mawdryn Undead, Terminus, and Enlightenment are the names. Mawdryn Undead is all about this student named Turlough, we think he is a student, but actually he is an alien with a serious assignment. The Black Guardian has him convinced that to be allowed to return home he must take out the Doctor. Meanwhile TARDIS is in trouble! There is a beam, finally discovered to be coming from Earth, that is causing equipment malfunction. General life threatening excitement goes on from there to the point where Tegan and Nyssa show up and come upon a man unrecognizably burned. Could it be the Doc?
Terminus continues the tale. Turlough is still being led around by the nose by the dreaded Black Guardians. They have him screw up the instrumentation on TARDIS to the point that a space liner manages to hook up with it. Of course Tegan and Turlough go and get completely lost within the extensive inner workings of the liner. There are now space pirates, Kari and Olvir, that the Doctor and Nyssa come face to face with.
The story in Enlightenment brings new adventures. There is a sailing competition between the Doctor, with his band of regulars, and beings called Eternals. The Eternals are not good company to say the least. They are not only mind-readers but also mind feeders. So meanwhile they are all racing and trying to win, of all things, Enlightenment .
It is really about time that we are getting a selection of these Dr. Who tales on DVD. This will be really nice to see because the quality is better than ever. If you love Dr. Who, you better get your hands on this one. Within the DVD threesome there are some fun extras. You can listen to the cast and crew, of who wants to live forever, discuss things as they think back to when they were in the process of creating the shows. There are also the always appreciated outtakes, deleted/extended scenes and Easter Eggs.
