Millions and millions of people smoke. The number is said to be close to 55 Million. Each year thousands and thousands of people die from diseases causes by smoking, whether from first or second hand smoke. Smoking is an interesting habit. Even though frequent smokers see and know about this fact, the hunger for this drug still continues as they continue to smoke day after day.

Over the years, there have been many different approaches to help someone stop smoking, some have worked while others pale in comparison. Everything from sour tasting cigarettes to subliminal tapes that try to take away the habit from their brains. Some of the methods have worked while others just cause frustration in individuals due to the lack of effectiveness. Of all these methods, one method stands out above the rest as effectiveness

Smoking is just as much as a psychological addiction as a physical. As the drug nicotine enters the body, memories of pleasure hit the brain and cause a psychological addiction that is rather hard for some people to break away from. Each year, thousands and thousands of people helplessly battle the addiction of cigarettes, not realizing that the battle is actually with their subconscious rather than with the physical aspect the addiction. People will generally misinterpret what their body is saying when they need a cigarette.

In the 90’s an infomercial came out touting a new method to overcome smoking. They concluded that smoking was tied more to the habit of a particular time of day rather than a purely physical addiction. To help the smoker with this problem, the smoker would write out exactly what time he or she would smoke and then set the timer for them to smoke at random times of the day that did not include the time of day that they set the timer too. Not standing the test of time, this method has not proven to be completely effective, but it did touch on the aspect of smoking and it how part of its root is also laid in the psychological.

Hypnosis on the other does attack the root of the subliminal. Giving the person the extra strength needed to quit the habit that may take their and their loved ones lives one day. Many hypnotherapists offer a money back guarantee shoing just how effective their methods are for helping someone to quit smoking. It is important to note that just “wanting” to quit smoking is just not enough for most people. To get that extra edge you may just need some psychological power to help you overcome this deadly habit.
