If you are a fan of the big screen and someone who likes to collect the movies that they love in their very own personal DVD collection, then you will definitely need to mark September 1st on your calendar. That is the day that the State Of Play DVD will be available for purchase. Now personally when there is a movie that I have enjoyed as much as I enjoyed this movie already in the theater, then I don't even wait for it to come out on DVD I pre-order it so I know I will get it delivered right to my door as soon as it is released.

So what was so incredible about this movie? Well, honestly what wasn't incredible? First of all Russell Crowe is always amazing. In every role he plays he always makes you feel the character, sometimes so much that you forget who he is during the movie and State of Play was no exception.

There was a miniseries on BBC in 2003. It had the same title and is what this movie is based on. A big difference is that the show was for 6 long hours. The movie manages to hold all that energy into a 2 hour space of time. This is one of those movies that you can't walk away from because it is so suspenseful. It is political and mysterious and has power struggles, sexual energy, and newspaper reporting that really gets you.

This movie, sporting an all star cast, is about a rising congressman and a journalist involved in a seemingly unrelated case about a string of brutal murders. Crowe's character is the brazen reporter, McCaffrey, who untangles a mystery involving many political figures. Ben Affleck plays Stephen Collins a US Congressman whose star is on the rise that is until his assistant is murdered and secrets start to be revealed. The plot deepens as you learn more about the characters and their relationship to one another unraveling into a very interesting ending.

With a plot like this combined with the top notch acting you can do nothing but enjoy it and get lost in the story. You get to hear interviews with some of the major players. It is always nice to get a chance to listen to Russel Crowe with the accent in full swing and Ben Affleck is so very charming. You get a lot of interesting info when the Making Of State Of Play is on, between that ans the interview with the Director there is a lot of added insight. This is some movie!

Russel Crowe is hunky and on full force in the State Of Play DVD. You will be drawn into the mystery and intrigue mixed with suspense and murder in the soon to be released State Of Play DVD.
