In Microsoft Windows, you are allowed to expand a clustered volume and can move the expanded volume to another node in same group as per your requirement. But in some cases, when you use the Diskpart utility for expanding the clustered volume on Microsoft Exchange Server, which is running cluster service and then more expended volume to another node, you would not be able to gain access of the Exchange Server Database (EDB file) stored on it. This behavior renders all of your user mailboxes and critical data inaccessible and critical data loss situations occur. At this point, to get your valuable data back, go for EDB Recovery solutions.

In a practical scenario, when you try to access EDB file in such cases, you might come across the below given error message:

"The system cannot find the path specified"

You may also encounter this error message even on unexpanded volumes in some cases.

Root of the issue

This situation may occur due to a number of possible causes, depending on the changes you’ve made to your system or the changes occurred due to virus infection, software malfunction and other similar reasons. The major reasons are as underwritten:

When the hard drive volume structure is altered, it probably has modified the EDB file path. While expanding a clustered disk volume, file system entry of EDB file has mot deleted or damaged. The EDB file has got corrupted because of damage to file system entry or due to virus infection and improper system shutdown like causes.
The file path is damaged and thus operating system can not find specified file.

In such circumstances, you are required to carry out EDB Repair to gain access of your mission critical data.

Resolution

There are two potential ways to overcome this issue. These are:

1.If the issue is due to expending clustered server volume, download and install hotfix provided by Microsoft.

2.If EDB corruption is the cause of this problem, repair and restore the EDB file using EDB Recovery software.
The recovery software are particularly designed to scan the EDB file and retrieve all of its objects. The recovered file can be imported to Exchange Server and after creating new profile, you can use it as before. These EDB Repair applications are quite easy and safe to use.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is the most comprehensive tool to repair and restore damaged EDB files. It works well with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, 2000 and 5.5. This software is designed for Microsoft Windows 2003, XP and 2000.
