It is strange how Impulse Buying is considered a habit when we do it impulsively. Impulse buying is just one of the many issues that Hypnosis has had great success in 'curing'.
Imagine the time when there were no malls or convenience stores. What did people do? Were our ancestors impulsive buyers too? Was the practice of going to the neighborhood store to look for something they wanted prevalent among people of the Middle Ages? Or is it a phenomenon of our century? It does not matter when it all started, but one fact is loud and clear that if impulsive buying has become a habit it brings a lot of trouble along with it. This habit does not die so easily!
The goods news on this topic is here
Judging impulse buying as a habit is surprising. How can an impulsive act be a habit? Is not it true that one of the biggest joys of life is to be impulsive? Our lives would become boring if every little thing was planned. To be impulsive is being adventurous and it helps us in broadening our horizons. If we understand its plus points and use it pragmatically, impulses can lead us out of darkness.
Why does impulse have the power to lead us to the wrong path?
We are not knowledgeable enough about our impulses. In moments of urgency, agitation or irritation we look out for some place or some thing to calm our frayed nerves. In today's material world our senses are fed non-stop with products and messages reassuring us how one material product or the other can satisfy and fulfill our needs and cravings. Therefore we are automatically driven by our impulse to buy!
Times when we are not satisfied ourselves
The dazzling array of products is within our arm's reach as we enter a store. Increased urgency overpowers our feelings as we crave and start buying without a thought. For that moment the sense of satisfaction makes us feel good. Back home or later when we inspect and analyze what we bought, we become depressed and unhappy at not being able to control our impulse buying.
How do we react when we feel unsatisfied? Maybe we think of shopping to feel better. Is it true?
Do we have a problem?
What is the result of our not listening? Why does one have impulses?
We have forgotten for long that Impulse has a real purpose. When we truly need something, feeling of irritation and dissatisfaction arises in us. Normally we are seduced by advertisements proclaiming they have all the answers, instead of responding appropriately while we look out for what we really need.
The real meaning is that we do not fulfill our real needs when we are acting impulsively. Our irritation grows as unknown to us our real need has not been fulfilled. This is a vicious cycle and we are trapped in it. As this behavioral pattern repeats itself it becomes a habit we cannot control or stop. Before we realize we are burdened with too many useless purchases we may not need at all.
