Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and later versions provide a new feature, known as Cached Exchange Mode that is in fact an improver version of the offline folder in later version of MS Outlook. The Cached Exchange Mode offers several functions to synchronize with Exchange Server and offline operations conveniently and efficiently. Exchange Recovery Mode is one of them. But in some cases, the synchronization can not take place and thus the OST file can not be converted into PST. In such situations, to access your critical data from Exchange Server, you are required to manually Convert OST to Pst.

When Microsoft Exchange Server database or the mailbox associating with OST (Offline Storage) file is reset or there are some inconsistencies between OST file and Exchange Server mailbox then Outlook will create new OST file for new mailbox. This situation occurs if you re running Microsoft Outlook 2002 and earlier versions, or running Microsoft Outlook 2003 and later versions with Cached Exchange Mode disabled and select work offline.

In this case, the old OST file would not be recognized by Microsoft Outlook and thus you can not access data stored in it. When you try to access data from OST file with Mailbox and Exchange profile, the new one would become inaccessible. In order to access data from the older OST file with new profile, you need to Convert OST File into PST. However, when you use Microsoft Outlook 2003 and newer versions and have Cached Exchange Mode enabled, then you would see the below given error message when the Exchange mailbox is inconsistent or reset:

"Exchange is currently in recovery mode. You can either connect to your Exchange server using the network, or work offline, or cancel this logon."

In these cases, to access data from the old OST file, it is required to convert unusable OST file into usable Pst. This is best possible with the help of power and advanced third party OST Repair Tool.

These applications are capable of converting the OST file in most of the cases and making it usable. Advanced algorithms and mechanisms are used to converts all of the OST file objects including emails, notes, contacts, calendar entries and many alike. You can easily Convert OST to Pst using these tools as they have interactive and simple graphical user interface.
