Sometimes driving in the UK can be very monotonous, especially if you are making the same journey every day to and from work. A drive to work can be stressful as there is normally a considerable amount of traffic during rush hour. If the journey to and from work is the only one you make, your opinion of driving may not be very good.

If this sounds like you then it’s probably time to try something different and find a love for driving! One way to do this is to take a weekend away and go into the countryside, North Wales, Scotland, the Pennines are just some of the places that are very picturesque and offer you a different driving experience.

Driving around areas like the Pennines can involve using roads and seeing scenery you’re not familiar with and can make a journey in the car a lot more enjoyable. It will also test your driving skills and make it more interesting than your average journey, plus there will be plenty of places to stop and enjoy the countryside, have picnic or go for a walk etc.

If you choose to drive in different areas you may also come across places you never knew existed and the same goes for driving abroad. Roads in foreign countries are very different to our own roads and offer you a different driving experience.

If someone was to ask you your opinion about driving you would understandably think of negatives things such as traffic hot spots, lack of car parking spaces or over exuberant drivers. Taking a journey around the countryside on a weekend with your friends or family can really help change your views.

For city dwellers, not only can you drive in some of the best untouched areas, you also have the opportunity to take a break from hectic city life leaving behind the normal stress of driving.

If you are going to drive in the countryside then ensure you car can handle it, some areas may be only suitable for 4-wheel drive cars so plan your journey and find a suitable route for the capabilities of your car.

Try and change the roads you drive on as this will help you enjoy driving again, even if you only spend a few hours driving around the countryside you could find that you are a lot more relaxed when it comes to making the journey to work on a Monday morning.
