For those of you that are interested in hiring a web-host, you are probably confused by all the companies and the services that they are trying to sell you. Take some time to check it out before diving in. If you know what a web host should do then you can figure out if what someone is trying to sell you is a good deal. Disk space is sold in MB or mega bytes and usually runs from about 5MB all the up to sites with more than 200MB. To determine the amount of MB your website will need, you must consider how many images and graphics you will use on your site as they are the things that take up the most space.

If you are mostly planning on text then you need to understand that by itself, text does not use too many megabytes. Think about also, if you are going to want to grow this website. They need to be able to offer you the space to grow. If they can't do this, you might want to look at other hosts before getting started.

You need e-mail accounts for your website. You should be able to have a few with your basic web-hosting package. Eventually you will probably need more than the initial freebies. Find out exactly what they will be charging you for these. You will need more, no doubt if you manage to get some success with your site, so it is good to know what the charge will be. Some surprises aren't good ones, and it is better to ask all the questions that you have now.

If you are really hot to use one of those web host services that are offering super cheap or free hosting then it will cost you eventually in some way. You may become desperate for some customer service help that is completely unavailable. That can not only be annoying but could stop you right in your tracks. It would be better to find a host that will cost you and make you feel that you can depend on them to be there.
