Teen Acne has never been completely understood, but hormonal imbalances and heredity are certainly major factors, and breakouts can be aggravated by stress environment and lifestyle choices. The biggest problem seems to be overactive sebaceous glands which secrete too much sebum or natural oil in the skin. The oil clogs the pores of the skin causing breakouts, mostly on the face and sometimes on the back, chest, and upper arms are all results of teen acne.
Skin cell turn over is the shedding of old skin cells and new skin cells to take the place. This shedding of skin cells is different in different people. In some people, the skin sheds dead cells evenly. In some teen acne cases the shedding of the skin becomes uneven and the dead cells accumulate in the follicles, thus effectively plugging the pore with oil and bacteria.

Any teen acne treatment should begin with a common sense procedure such as cleansing the skin with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh cleansers and astringents and anything that will cause the skin to be overly dry, which make the oil glands more productive. An antibacterial astringent is perfect for wiping away excess oil between cleansings.
Don’t squeeze and pick this can spread inflammation and cause acne scars, and use hot compresses and an extractor for blackhead removal if needed. Antibacterial lotions that dry the skin, mild, pure soap, and a medicated cream is useful for treating oily, acne-prone skin. A gentle exfoliate will help remove dead skin cells and encourage new skin cell turnover. If you wear makeup, choose water-based acne products rather than oil-based products. It is highly recommended to have a professional aesthetician cleanse and remove pimples and blackheads.
Nutritional Supplements to help with Teen Acne
There are nutritional supplements that also might help in defeating teen acne. For instance, vitamin A is thought to help decrease the level of production of sebum, which makes it an excellent nutritional supplement for acne sufferers as well. In fact, there are gels and creams that are made with forms of vitamin A. However, you can have too much of a good thing and too much vitamin A can cause decreased bone density among other side effects so be sure to only take the recommended daily amount.
Zinc is thought to have some powerful acne-fighting effects. Zinc has been shown to help promote healing in the skin and decrease inflammation caused by acne. It may also help in lowering hormone levels affecting the skin, one of the main causes of teen acne.
Natural Remedies for Teen Acne
When treating teen acne naturally it is always smart to use natural plant products that contain vitamin E, grape seed oil, aloe Vera, and calendula. All these products help to promote healthy skin, and reduce and aid in the fight against teen acne.
There are various other herbal treatments available, but it is wise to note that in order to ensure that you achieve your goal of having healthy and clear looking skin, that you must also follow a proper diet. By increasing your intake of naturally sweetened juices and water, you will also help to reduce the appearance of teen acne. 8 glasses of water a day is no joke it helps to flush the body of toxins that can cause blemishes in your skin.
