The New Season of Dancing with the Stars - My Guilty Pleasure

Whatever this season is, I was tired of the dancing, judges, and contestants. Chloris Leachman frustrated me to such a degree I even stopped watching. Melissa Rycroft, The Woz, Julianne's boyfriend, Chuck Wicks, Denise Richards, Shawn Johnson, and a few others came along too that really didn't interest me either.

But not all was lost - someone did hold my attention. Gilles Marini was the one I couldn't wait to see. Marini was on my radar after watching the Sex and the City movie where he played Dante. And as a celebrity dancer on Dancing with the Stars Gilles does not let fans of his screen work down. He heats up the ballroom with his dance moves. One of Dancing's judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, let slip what a lot of us were thinking - Carole, Gilles Marini's wife, one was lucky lady.

Just like her short lived show on E! Network, Denise Richards proved to be equally dull and talentless on Dancing with the Stars The Woz may be a computer genius and he definitely seemed like a great guy, but he just didn't have the moves on the dance floor. Chuck Wicks wins an A for effort with he tremendous work he put into his dancing which kept him around until near the end. Lil' Kim is someone I never imagined liking - but what a dancer! Stepping up with great technicality, Derek Huff won me with his brilliant choreography. They obviously had real chemistry, and they demonstrated a high level of talent and skill as well. It was a shock that she was eliminated with four others remaining.

The final four, as I write, are Melissa and Tony, Ty and Chelsie, Gilles and Cheryl, Shawn and Mark. Melissa came in shortly before the show when Jewel was injured. Melissa didn't struggle too much for someone with such little prep time - she has training in ballet. Her performances have been close to perfection, earning her perfect scores in the last show. But perfect scores don't always mean you won't be voted off. In the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars, Sabrina Bryan was voted off the show after being the first person, with her dancing partner, to achieve a perfect score from the judges. The celeb dancer who has shown real progress is World Champion rodeo cowboy Ty Murry. Having a rodeo star background gave him a wide, diverse fan base during voting, but did little in the way of preparing him for dancing. Shawn Johnson's Olympic performance was so endearing, and her dancing is the same. Finally, Gilles Marini simply couldn't do a routine that didn't blow me away. He is definitely my favorite.

Who will bring home the trophy? Another celebrity contestant and their partner gets sent off on the next show. And on the final episode the three remaining couples will compete in winner take all competition. You can guarantee where I'll be that night!

On a side note, one of the best ways to watch Dancing with the Stars is in high definition. After several friends kept harping on how much of a difference it made I finally gave in and purchased a hi-def television, and boy am I happy I did! Oh Man! HD really gives you that 'you're really there' feeling. I had no idea how good it was. All I had to do once I got my new HD TV was contact Comcast Cable, my local provider, and add HD channels to my already low priced service. I thought "what the heck?" and added the Comcast Digital Voice and High speed internet while I was at it since they could be added for such a low rate. My download speeds and television picture are by far the fastest and clearest I have ever experienced with my new broadband service and HD Comcast Cable. As a bonus, they offer digital phone service at flat rate pricing. The phone is very clear and I can call friends and family around the US and never have to pay long distance charges. If Comcast is your local cable provider or you're planning on moving to an area covered by Comcast, I definitely recommend calling them up and ordering their great services. I suggest using the web to find the best Comcast Cable promotions and savings out there. You really can save a bunch if you know where to find them. Make sure you take a look at their Triple Play bundle that lets you get all three services for one incredibly low price.
