I first discovered ebooks a few years back now. You know what made me think of them, I was watching an episode of Star Trek Voyager and Torres was reading a book on her tricorder. I thought, hey, there should be stuff like that around, so I did a search on the internet and discovered ebooks.

At first I bought a few ebooks from online stores, a couple of Linda Howard's books that I hadn't read as they were hard back editions. First mistake I made was not researching about drm. It's horrible and I refuse to have it on my ebooks now. But anyway the only program I knew about that I had on my pc was Adobe pdf viewer so those ebooks were pdfs. And I read them directly from my pc screen. I've lost them now as the last time I tried to view them on my pc it wouldn't let me, thus why I hate drm.

I started searching for a new author and read about Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, so I thought I would give her a go with ebooks. Her site was directed to the ereader site for her ebooks. So I downloaded the ereader program, (quite liked it) and downloaded the first in the series, I thought it was ok so I downloaded the next and then the next.....I got so caught up in the series I was downloading 3 or 4 books at once. It gets expensive for the unwary.

Eventually I settled on getting a pocket pc the Dell Axim x51v, (got it on special at the dell outlet store), to escape from the pc screen. I loved it! Only thing was I didn't like ereader that much on the smaller screen because it wouldn't go to a full screen. So I have all these dark hunter books that can only be read on the ereader program.......not good.

I have sworn never to get locked into a format again for ebooks. It was an expensive lesson but one well learned.

I thought I would still want my paperbacks, even though I had the convenience of ebooks. I went out and bought all the Dark Hunter books in paperbacks after I fell in love with them as ebooks. The funny thing was I never touched them. When I wanted to read them I would just go for the ebook version. So that was a waste too..../grin.

Anyway I now have the Smartq7, which I mentioned in an earlier post. I'm using Alreader ereading program which doesn't read drm books and all my ebooks are in html, nice and universal.

I enjoy surfing the internet, reading good books and new technologies, for my views on romance books, ebooks and more visit Flirting With Romance Books
