Bathroom vanities serve as the centerpiece to your bathroom. When remodeling or upgrading a bathroom, it is important to consider how all the components will work together to serve your own specific purposes. With such a wide variety of vanities to choose from, one might find it difficult to get started with the process.

Where can you start? You are here, in part, because you value quality, but what about height, finish, storage, and so on? We would like to suggest you first think about the purpose. Answering questions related to who will be using the bathroom may help you to narrow the field and focus on the options more appropriate to your needs.

Is it a small, guest bathroom?

If this is the bathroom frequented by guests, several questions are already answered. For example, the question of storage and storage space comes into play. In this bathroom, you won’t require as much storage, so you can make the room feel more spacious with a narrow vanity or pedestal mount. Space saving corner vanities may also be a good choice. The question of height is also answered. The sink will be used by both children and adults, and most likely the major application will be hand washing. Therefore, a height in the 30" range will be most appropriate.

The guest bathroom allows for simplicity. You won’t need to store curling irons, hair dryers, shampoos, and the like in these bathrooms.

Is it a shared, family bathroom?

The shared, family bathroom will require far more storage space than you may anticipate. Guess how much storage space you may need, and then add more. Users of this bathroom can be expected to replace dirty towels and toilet paper as part of their family responsibility. Therefore, such things are more appropriately stored right there in the bathroom vanity cabinet.

If you have more than one child, you can expect to store more than one type of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, hair accessories, grooming implements, and so on. Without adequate storage, the family bathroom can quickly look unkempt. You wouldn’t want to feel nervous about a guest using that bathroom when your guest bathroom is occupied.

As far as height is concerned, the 30" range is again recommended to accommodate all.

Is it the master bathroom?

The master bathroom is your inner sanctum. This is the place where the considerations may revolve around your own personal taste and comfort. Looking through this website and letting your imagination run a little wild, will prove to be quite gratifying. Give it a try!

Men and women may sometimes have different ways of storing and organizing their bathroom stuff. Therefore, considering adequate separate storage areas may well contribute to calm, smooth sailing.

An important, but often overlooked, consideration is the height of the master bathroom vanity top. It’s all yours, so bring it up a few more inches. All of a sudden you will realize how much more comfortable shaving, tooth brushing, and face washing have become!

Finally, some questions on style…

• Are you looking for a style that embodies a particular time period or one that is timeless?

• Is your style modern or traditional?

• Is the style meant to set the vanity apart as special, or is it pulling together the styles already within the bathroom?

• Are you trying to say something about yourself with the styles in your home, and what does this style say about you?

Hopefully this short article has helped you to see how the right questions can help you more quickly discover the type of vanity that you will enjoy the most—and be able to enjoy for a long time to come.
