The Steps of Tomorrow
The biggest problem concerning videos today, is not the size, nor the load speed and it is definitely no the lack of content. The problem lied in Search results. With so many videos out there, at times, users spend more time searching for a video then actually watching it. This sprung up the development of websites like Blinkx, Clipta and even Google, focused their power on video search. The world of video search has an endless and bright future. Google tried to provide its users a quick outlet for video search, yet the limited sources and heavy promotion of its new asset "Youtube" have made its users look else where. Blinkx had the right idea, yet the lack of originality has slowed its development. Using scripts similar to those of any similar search engines could only take video search so far. Clipta on the other hand is a relatively new website that improves its search based on user signals. Collecting information relating to the activity of users on its site is a genius idea that could provide a unique long term solution. However, Clipta relies heavily on user input, therefore the results will reach their full potential only when the popularity grows and the user database increases. This will be an Interesting project to watch and I believe it will put it’s mark on the Internet world and will lend a hand in its development.
