Domain Name System (DNS) is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard service which provides naming service to your computer to resolve domain name registration. In other words, DNS is a system, who translates IP addresses into domain names. This is necessary because it is very hard to remember or use computer IP address, so we only use human-readable name, because the name is easy to remember than a numerical IP addresses. If you do not resolve the DNS, the Internet will be a very inconvenient place. DNS resolution is a very important task.

However, you may sometimes try to connect to a system name and the name of DNS error because there is no solution to the appropriate IP address. There are several possible reasons for this, such as:

  • DNS server is down.
  • IP connection lost, thus the DNS cannot resolve
  • DNS cache poisoning.
  • Update and regional issues.
  • DNS server does not have network connectivity to the root server.
There are few ways to determine whether your system is properly addressed. You can use nslookup command to verify name resolution. In the nslookup command can be used to find the details in particular, DNS (Domain Name System), such as IP address, records, etc.

Go to command prompt, type nslookup host_name server_IP_address. The actual host name, you are working to resolve the host_name and DNS server IP address server_IP_address then click Enter.

This will allow you to verify if the error is on the server, if there is a general resolution of the error, or if the server is likely to decline. Nslookup will also display a variety of different types of DNS records, not just the primary (A) record, or record the entire domain. Then, you can ping and - a parameter has also confirmed that if the DNS resolution to work fine.

Resolve the DNS client, because most of the problems began not on the client query. If the DNS servers to provide incorrect data query, the answer to its success, then the most likely reasons are:
  • Resource record (resistance) does not dynamically update a zone.
  • An error occurred when manually add or modify records static resources area.
  • The old DNS server resource records database, left from the cache or region to find the records do not update or delete the current information when no longer required.
If the DNS server does not resolve the name of the external network, then the possible reasons may be:
  • Recursive query timeout to complete.
  • A remote DNS server did not respond.
  • A remote DNS server to provide incorrect data.
  • Recursive DNS server has been disabled.
Investigation is also connected to the root server. Used to verify DNS server queries the root of the failure can Ping the IP address of the server. If the ping attempt to the failure of a root server, it may indicate that an IP address, root server has changed.
