Perhaps one of the biggest emotional stumbling blocks to success is one's inability to have complete trust in themselves.
In other words what many call "self doubt" can literally undermine one's motivation, energy, focus, and the realization of one's dreams.
Have you ever looked at the reason why you personally might harbor self doubt? Most people just try to go on living with it on board without ever looking at it much less questioning its purpose. Well that is exactly what I wish to do here, question its purpose!
By doing so this will hopefully help you begin to realize some of the unconsciously held myths you have stored inside you about this destructive "emotion".
So here we go.
If you look at it closely some individuals think that:
1. Self doubt causes them to stop and consider their course of action before they launch into it, so that,
2. They won't make any untoward mistakes, so that,
3. They won't wind up failing in their mission so that,
4. They will therefore succeed, so that,
5. They will feel successful, happy, fulfilled, joyful, peaceful and good about themselves.
In other words if we condense what has just been said they believe that:
(A) Self doubt causes them to be and feel successful, happy, fulfilled, joyful, peaceful and good about themselves.
Is that the case however?
Well to check this out simply reconnect to the state of "self doubt" and notice while you're in it what it does to you emotionally, mentally and physically.
If you are aware of your inner state while you are immersed in this self doubt you will likely notice some or all of the following:
(B) Feeling immobilized or paralyzed, heaviness, drained or depleted of energy, having trouble concentrating or focusing on your goals or the tasks at hand, helpless, hopeless, lacking self confidence and self esteem, defeated, sad, tired, like a failure and so on.
So does that experience sound like what was described in statement (A) above? Hardly! Isn't this in fact a down right toxic state? Indeed!
So therefore is statement (A) true or false for you?
If it resonates as false, which is what it is, then simply do the following:
1. Place one hand over your heart.
2. As if you are speaking from your heart command that the belief in statement (A) be completely purged from your mind, body and life for ever.
3. Next notice that in (B) above the experience associated with "self doubt" is toxic to you and simply acknowledge that to yourself within your heart.
4. Next contemplate your dreams and see yourself accomplishing them fully, whatever they are for you, with ease, grace, joy and contentment. Notice how this makes you feel.
5. If this feels good to you then simply acknowledge to yourself via your heart that this is where you'd rather be from now on.
6. Now notice how you feel inside.
