Gunite repair is mostly used for the construction of basement in houses and commercial buildings. The versatility and the stability make it really very good choice for the repairs and it also leaves smooth surface and very good strength to the construction. The gunite can be sprayed on the minute cracks on the walls with or without any work and it can stick at the old cracks.

Gunite is a kind of a sprayed concrete which is sometimes known as dry gunned concrete, and is almost similar to the concrete but with the gunite the mixture of cement and water is used and it agitates at the nozzle whenever it is applied.

The man who is operating the nozzle has complete control over the water and cement supply in order to regulate the mixing. Then the mixture created is sprayed at a very high velocity in order to create an even and strong surface. The gunite is often sprayed over the mesh of the steel or iron bars which adds strength and reliability to the structure, and is very good to be sprayed in the basements, retaining walls, water gardens, pools and even overhead. The inner walls of gunite are covered with the thick layer of the plaster in order to make it waterproof. The plaster is the same as that you find on the walls of the swimming pool. This plaster is so strong that it hardly gets damaged and if it gets damaged by any agent the portion of the wall will remain unprotected as the waterproofing will be removed. In order to repair that portion and get the old strength you have to chip away each and every loose material and clean the debris. Once all the work of cleaning the area has been done you can start with the repair work by putting the paint coat again.

The major changes in the temperature and the settling of ground is one of the major problems which can damage the basement walls. If one have cracks in the basement which has gone beyond the plaster coating to gunite layer. First of all one can try to repair them by using epoxy coatings just by filling the cracks. There are number of kits available in the market which will help you in making the repairs on your own. So it’s a nice way as it’s cheap and can make your work easily.
