There is little doubt that the almost daily reports of climate change have led to people in the UK becoming increasingly concerned for the environment. Fortunately there are a number of things that people can do to make their home more environmentally friendly. These steps range from improving energy efficiency through to using renewable energy sources or simply conserving electricity by turning off electrical items not in use.

Small Scale Wind Turbines – A small wind turbine fitted to the roof of your home can contribute some of your homes energy needs in an environmentally friendly way. Wind power is a renewable form of energy that produces no harmful emissions and so a small wind turbine home is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.

Solar Hot Water Systems – Research has demonstrated that the amount of solar energy reaching the roof of an average home in the UK can contribute a significant part of the households hot water needs. By reducing the use of the standard water heater a solar hot water system can supply your home with hot water in an energy efficient and environmentally friendly way.

Central Heating Systems & Boilers – Improving the energy efficiency of your homes central heating system is one way of being more environmentally friendly. If your boiler was installed more than ten years ago then it could be beneficial to replace it with a newer system. More up to date models will tend to be more efficient than older systems and so heating your home will require less energy.

Cavity Wall Insulation – Another way to improve the energy efficiency of your home is to install cavity wall insulation. Research has estimated that as much as a third of a home’s heat is lost through its walls. Cavity wall insulation means filling the gap between the inner and outer walls with a type of insulating material. The benefit of this is that less heat is able to escape meaning that heating your home requires less energy.

Compass Gas central heating experts Liverpool offer a comprehensive heating service. Our products and services include cavity wall insulation, small wind turbines and solar hot water systems.
