Every list of Broadway shows of course varies to point of view. Some may love a show while another is disappointed by it. There are always musicals and plays on Broadway that the masses fall in love with and currently there are plenty of them. Much depends on mood, and whether it is a classic musical revival or a new original dramatic play, there are some great shows to watch out for in New York City.

The new Fall season is about to commence on Broadway and that means new openings. In wonders the greatest names and best opportunities to capture an extraordinary evening on The Great White Way. Here is a quick look at some shows to keep an eye out for which should not disappoint.

The September openings comprise the dramatic play "After Miss Julie" which is a limited engagement. A sort of autobiography of Carrie Fisher and her powerful yet true story of adolescent Hollywood success in "Wishful Drinking". "The Royal Family" which vows to be one of the most hysterical shows of the season playing at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. These are examples of a few show openings that are gaining notice from theater-goers.

While that small list of Broadway shows presents a further conversation some of the real big names are coming in October. Jude Law will take to the stage in the Shakespeare's "Hamlet", the legendary story of tragedy at the hands of vengeance. Michael Grandage directs Mr. Law who is most prominent in Hollywood movie productions but actually has an extensive theatrical history.

"Bye Bye Birdie" transports another Hollywood star to the stage as John Stamas plays the role of Albert Peterson. The previews begins September 10, 2009 with an official opening on October 15, 2009 at the newly renovated Henry Millers Theatre and is set for a limited engagement. Set behind the bubble gum music of the 1950s and recounting the story of Conrad Birdie, who was inspired by Elvis and now seemingly following his course.

Not exactly in the list of Broadway shows for the fall season by an exciting one none the less, Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark will be opening early in the new year, January 6, 2010 to be precise. The huge production will be directed by Julie Taymor, a Tony Award winning director probably most notably for The Lion King on Broadway. With the present-day Hollywood enthusiasm for bringing Superhero's back to life on the screen Taymor will attempt to convey new light to Super-Man on stage. Music and Lyrics will be from Bono and The Edge of the ever popular rock band U2.

The list of Broadway shows coming this Fall and into the new year looks very encouraging to say the least. Once again, Broadway offers a little something for everyone from the classic theater experience of "Hamlet" to the most recent ambitious work of Julie Taymore with Spider-Man. The season is starting to heat up and all the big names, big shows and anticipation are eager to get these latest openings off with a bang.
