Laser printers are one of the largest selling printing products around the world. Laser printers are capable of printing both high end pictures and written text on the paper. Laser printer uses laser beams to actually print on paper unlike inkjet printer, which uses jets of ink to print or impact printer, which prints by using mechanical impact. As the name suggests these printers uses electric charge in its photo receptor. This photo receptor is in the form of a drum that accumulates electric charge. Dry ink is used in laser printers for printing purposes. Laser beam from the laser unit falls on the rotating drum and gives it letter or the image that has to be printed on the paper.

Laser printers are fast and almost silent, they can also vary their speed according to different tasks. Falling prices has made laser printer more accessible to masses, the added advantage is that decreasing prices are coupled with increasing efficiency and reliability. Laser printers have become a necessary tool in every office. In the long term laser printers are more economical to run than inkjet and other type of printers. Business can choose between color and black & white laser printers according to their budget and requirements. For making a right decision you should know the amount of paper you want to print. For higher amount heavy duty printers are necessary and for low volume normal printers can do the job perfectly. Another thing that you should look at is resolution because if you are printing fine images than for getting quality result printer should be able to produce high resolution images. Print speed is also a very important factor because if your printer is slow you will not be able to achieve you target.

Since there is substantial amount of electric charge involved in the operation of laser printer, so care must be taken while doing routine maintenance work. Stored charge can give electrical shock and hurt someone. Though there are mechanisms inside the printer that can prevent the accumulation of electric charge, still large number of different component means that charge can accumulate somewhere, so care must be taken. Toner particles can also cause fire if the toner is cleaned with ordinary home vacuum cleaner, since these particles are electrically charged so when they come in contact with fine dust inside the vacuum cleaner they can start fire and damage life and property.

Keep all the above things in mind and you will be able to make a right decision.
