Introduction

The HTC P4350 is one of the recent phones produced by HTC. It is also known as the HTC Herald. This phone is presently the tiniest Pocket PC with a slide out keyboard.

Key Features

The P4350 is the first Pocket PC with a sliding keyboard which is loaded with a spring slider. This phone has all the basic functionalities of a phone. It has features such as: calendar functions with appointments, calculator, PDF viewer, tasks and a lot more. It also has complete Microsoft Pocket Office which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Word and Excel documents can be viewed as well as can be edited. It also has many highly developed features like a 2 mega-pixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi and much more.

Design

The front of the HTC P4350 is occupied by a 240 x 320-pixel screen measuring 71mm diagonally. When you slide the phone apart to reveal the keyboard, the screen automatically changes from portrait to landscape mode, giving it the appearance of a miniature laptop.

Executive Features

One thing to notice in HTC P4350 is its cursive writing mode. It is remarkably accurate, but the distressing delay between inputting and depiction the text makes using it feel too much like a game show. Another notable feature that HTC has included in this phone is the "X" button in the task manager function. In most of the Windows Mobile 5 phones, the X on the top right corner does not mean to close the application but by using it you put the program in the background. HTC has included a small application which gives you the choice of in fact closing the use when you press the X button. This is a characteristic that was missing out on Windows Mobile 5 and will be customary in Windows Mobile 6.

The most notable problem with HTC P4350 is that it is Quad-band GSM but the sad part is that it does not support 3G. Given that Windows Mobile connected Pocket PCs are ideal for Web surfing and that the keyboard makes mobile email more interesting, the absence of 3G speed really is a drawback. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both here, but there is no infrared. The Bluetooth performs great with 2.0 devices and the range is a lot better. Many new devices are being released which don't have infrared because Bluetooth can do almost everything infrared can at a faster speed.

Entertainment Features

HTC P4350 has 2-megapixel camera, whose lens is on the back of the device. The camera does not offer a flash. It is able of capturing pictures up to 2 mega pixels which is 1600 x 1200 pixels. You can select the picture excellence but it is best kept at super fine. The camera also has the standard white balance settings; auto, daylight, night, fluorescent and incandescent.

Conclusion

The features of HTC P4350 are strong. Certainly, if you're looking for a connected handheld with a keyboard and you don't need 3G data speeds, then it's worth acquiring.
