Acne is a condition that is most commonly associated with teenagers. After all, most cases of acne start during the stage of adolescence. However, there are some cases wherein toddlers and even babies develop acne. It is a bit uncommon, but it does happen. Note, though, that when acne-like blemishes appear on your child's skin, it would be prudent to assume that the cause is not acne but some other skin condition such as eczema or dermatitis. In fact, it would be much better if you consult the doctor first before applying any sort of treatment. Remember that the skin of infants and toddlers is much more sensitive than that of the adults, so you can't just apply anything on it. You must be sure that it's safe for the baby, and the best way to ensure this is to ask the doctor.

When you're sure that the condition really is baby or toddler acne, however, remember not to panic. It's not a serious condition and will usually disappear with time. If you like, though, you can apply some of these home remedies:

Honey and Lemon Juice

Mix one teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of lemon juice and use a cotton swab to apply it on the affected area. Just leave it there for 30 minutes. Once done, wash it out with some warm water. Honey and lemon juice work great because they are natural antibiotics.

Mild Soap and Warm Water

Another way to help get rid of baby or toddler acne would be to wash his or her face twice a day with mild soap and warm water. Ensuring that the baby's skin is always clean will also help prevent other skin conditions.

Breast Milk

If it is your baby who is having a case of acne and if you are still lactating, then you could try pumping out your breast milk and then applying it gently on the affected area using a cotton swab or a clean cloth. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes then wash off with warm water.

Fruits and Vegetables

If you are breastfeeding, then the hormones and nutrients you have are also passed onto the baby. So what you should do is avoid eating fatty and oily foods and eat something healthy instead. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet, especially citrus fruits.

Water

It is also important to have a large intake of fluids, especially water, when you breastfeed your baby. Drink lots of water and this should help get rid of your baby or toddler's acne.

Do not let your baby or toddler suffer from acne, try some of the tips mentioned in this article today.
