But that is another thing, in this article I will tell you the most important criteria to consider when buying a new guitar.

The first thing you will have to choose is whether you want a Steel String guitar, or a Nylon string (classical) guitar. The two types of guitars perform totally different, and are designed for different kind of music. If the Steel string guitar is the most popular guitar, which you will find around most campfires parties and everyday guitar players, the classical guitar is not so common, but it is easier to play and softer to the touch.

Then, an important part in knowing how to choose acoustic guitar is the type of wood it is made of. Why is this very important? Because different types of wood create different sounds, some produce a softer, warmer sounds, some produce brighter, crisper sounds. Depending on how you want your guitar to sound, you should opt for the type of wood which satisfies your preferences.

Next on "how to choose acoustic guitar" guidelines I want to tell you about the strings. Just a couple of things:

1. You can choose between "Heavy" strings or "light" strings, each one with its advantages and disadvantages.

And 2. If you are a beginner, you should check out the height of the strings, and by that I mean the distance between the strings and the fret. If the strings are too high, you will have to push harder on the strings, thus hurting your fingers, and this can be frustrating and make you quit learning guitar, and I don't want you to quit. So keep this in mind, when you choose acoustic guitar.

As you can see, learning how to choose acoustic guitar isn't hard, you just have to keep in mind a few guidelines, a few rules, but in the end, it all comes to how the guitar feels and performs when you take it in your arms for the first time, and how does it sound.

Warning: If you buy your guitar online, then I recommend purchasing a hard-shell case for it, as this will protect your guitar from possible damages that could occur during transport.
