You would have heard of and probably also been a part of the off shoring industrial revolution. This concept bought in a world of change in the global economy. There is however a new twist to this off shoring revolution and it is called the homeshoring. The growth of the homeshoring jobs is considered to be a sign of a new "industrial revolution" in the Canada and United States customer service industry.

The companies in this new industry are hiring people who would do customer service sitting in the comfort of their home. They are setting up these virtual call centre not only in Canada and USA but also in other countries like India and Brazil who have a strong base of BPO industry. With the growth of this industry it is being hoped that many people who are jobless or are facing financial constraints will gain from this home based job. There are people who have small kids and have to stay back home to take care of them because they cannot afford childcare. These people can work from home and benefit from the perks offered in the call centre services.

Even the students, senior citizens and the disabled persons will benefit from the idea of work from home as it will help them earn some extra income and become financially strong. The concept of this virtual call centre is to have people who stay at home and cannot go out and work to handle the customer service calls from the comfort of their homes and earn some living. This has further resulted in improving the unemployment problem in the country as the jobs which were earlier being outsourced to foreign countries and thus benefiting the economy there were now being used to employ the people in the country. Thus the business would remain onshore and benefit the economy of the country.

It was during the 1990's that the outsourcing trend gained momentum and most of the jobs were outsourced to foreign countries with the foreign employees. The reason for this trend was that the cost of foreign workforce was cheaper and so was the setting up of the infrastructure and maintaining it. Thus the outsourcing companies would save on lot of expenses and add to their profit. This resulted in a lot of job loss in the countries like United States as all the customer service jobs were being outsourced. But with the advent of this virtual call centres the tide has reversed and the jobs are back to the citizens in the United States and are helping resolve unemployment that was in rise there.

The outsourcing of jobs resulted in increased dissatisfaction in the customers as very often they would fail to understand the dialect of the foreign customer service agents. Thus this would lead to the customers moving to some other company. Thus with the work from home concept the people would offer customer service from their home as the only things required to set it up is a phone and a computer with a high speed internet connection.
