Look for laptop keyboards with enough space between keys. Notebooks come with integrated mouse called as Touchpad. As name states Touchpad is controlled by touching. Check sensitivity of Touchpad and click buttons. If you are planning to play games on your laptop or you are uncomfortable with Touchpad in a way you can always use a mouse.

Operation System

Most of the computer users prefer Windows operation system. Of course there are some who likes to use Linux and taking advantage of Linux’s open source codes for developing different operation systems. Just like Pardus, which is developed by TUBITAK. But again most of the users only know Windows as an operation system.

Features like Media Center, multi media playing feature, stability, accepting your laptops hardware drivers are preferred in an operation system as well as working fast with laptop which means high compatibility. Windows Vista is the best operation system so far, but Windows 7 is knocking the door, which is much more better than Vista. If you are using Windows Vista as you laptop’s operation system be sure to have at least 2 GB of Ram, because Vista eats 1 GB. Good news is Windows 7 is better about this, you can use Windows 7 even on your low performance laptop.

Random-access memory (RAM) and Hard drive (HDD or SSD)

Like said above, operation systems of our day consume 1 GB of RAM to operate, which means you can not take advantage of that 1 GB RAM. So the thing you must do is getting a notebook with at least 2 GB of RAM. GB is not the only thing determines the speed, the more MHz means the more bandwith. DDR3 is the newest type of RAM but DDR2’s are the most common, because they are cheaper and they still show good performance.

If you are planning to have an archive of photos, films etc. prefer high capacity drives. To access your files in a fast way consider having 5400 rpm hard drives, 7200 rpm is much more better if you can afford. The newest technology of file storaging is SSD (Solid State Disk). Even though they are expensive, they consume less energy, provide more speed and the are more secure. Technology used within Solid State Disk is the same as a flash disk, just a bigger one. The biggest advantage of this technology is no turning discs inside, same speed in all Solid State Disks, they are very expensive though.
