Getting married should be one of your most memorable occasions probably only surpassed by the birth of your child, yet there are some people in Australia who choose some of the weirdest locations to get married. After careful consideration I have put together my list of Australia's Top 10 Weirdest Locations to get married.
Top 1. At the bottom of a Mine Pit
I know many blokes think of getting married as being tied with a ball and chain or maybe going to hell, but who in their right mind wants to start the trip when there alive. Personally, mines are generally hot, wet and dirty and why any husband and bride would want to marry at the bottom of a mine pit is beyond me.
Top 2. In the middle of the Simpson Desert
The Simpson Desert is one of those iconic outback locations you have to see to believe but to get married in the middle of a desert is beyond me. Whilst it is a little better than a mine pit, not by much. Now my question is, "Who brought the beer?"
Top 3. On a Yacht in Lake Eyre
Lake Eyre is Australia's largest inland sea and whilst that doesn't seem like a weird location to get married, let me fill you in on a little more. This Lake only has water to float a boat on during the wet season and whilst that is a little weird, what tops it off is that it is in the middle of nowhere.
So, I guess if you are looking for a place to get married where your in-laws can not find you, then this is the right place.
Top 4. On A Rollercoaster
I like most people love a good rollercoaster but why in the world would you want to get married on one. A number of couples have take the ride towards marriage. I really hope the priest can hold on as he asks the happy couple to take their vows.
Top 5. At the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef
Everybody loves the Great Barrier Reef and honestly getting married on a yacht or super-cruiser is what I would consider the ultimate experience but when we heard that people were getting married whilst diving at the bottom of the reef. We wondered how the priest or celebrant actually did the marriage ceremony. More so, how does the happy couple kiss with all that dive gear on?
Top 6. In the Middle of a Crocodile Farm
When my team researched this one, I really couldn't work out why anyone would want to do this.
You would really have to love those snapping handbags to want to get married at a crocodile farm.
Top 7. Abseiling and Rock Climbing the Blue Mountains
Now I love the Blue Mountains, and if you aren't sure where they are, just check out a map and look for them west of Sydney but why would you honestly want to get married whilst hanging off the side of a cliff. You would really have to be in love with each other and I guess really trust each other.
Top 8. Boggo Road Jail
Boggo Road jail is one of the most notorious jails in Queensland and is now home to the prison services museum. Quite often there are tours at the jail for ghosts, but there are also couples out there with a really bizarre desire to get married in this rather unique location.
