Golf holiday on the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol is the finest region for golf in Spain and it stretches along the coastline of Mediterranean Sea on the Iberian Peninsula, anchored by the port city of Malaga on the East. This region has over 60 golf courses, with championship courses like the famous San Roque and Valderrama and other courses which are great for golfers of all abilities.

All the golf courses have one common feature; they share an extraordinary sunny and dry weather which allows golf enthusiasts to play all through the year. It will be a real treat to play on a golf course in Costa del Sol in winter, for golfers who have been playing in wet and cold Northern European winter. There are two high season for golf, from the middle of March to May and also from September to November. The winter months are mild and the temperature remains in the fifties at the highest.

El Parador Golf Course and Guadalhorce Golf Course are situated in Malaga municipality which is the most cosmopolitan city of Costa del Sol. It is an excellent place for tourists and a must for golfers.

This area has most number of golf courses compared to any other municipality in Spain. The ‘Golf Valley’ is an outstanding region located after Puerto Banus in the Nueva Andalucia. It has courses such as the members course Las Brisas and Aloha and La Quinta Golf Course which is open to everyone.

Aloha Golf Course has artificial lighting which allows you to play even in the evening.
Rio Real Golf Course is about a kilometer from the heart of Marbella and it twists down into the sea offering beautiful views.

Mijas area which is in Malaga province also has a large number of golf courses and is very popular with golf tourists. Mijas Golf Course is especially favorite with golfers as it is flat but offers a challenge and buggies can go on the course. This open area offers two 18-hole golf courses. The La Cala Golf Course also has 54 holes and 6-hole par-three layout with the Asia, America and Europa courses offering different holes to enjoy.

Avid golfers will have a wonderful time in the sunshine and enjoying the mountainous countryside. There is no golf course which is completely flat, and several of them have been designed on severe terrain with steep elevation changes, you will get a panorama of the Mediterranean Sea from most of them.
