Even if your software doesn't have many control units (buttons, menu items, settings), it's not a simple business to test them all after each new version. Sometimes, a developer ignores this business, because he worked at new functions and didn't modify the old ones, and they must work properly. This may lead to new releases with incorrect main functions.

In the article you can read how to create software testing with the excellent autoclicker (http://www.autoclickextreme.com). You should only replay the tasks you need to be certain that your product functions well or to determine every bug rapidly.

Here AutoClickExtreme autoclicker will create testing of Backup Expert (a highly popular backup software). We'll test the senior program function - back up of a folder with size monitoring of the resulting archive.

To make the experiment fair, we are going to pack one and the same folder - "D:automated software testingbackup experttest folder". First of all, we'll put the folder in the archive, and straight before each test we'll move away the folder "D:automated software testingbackup experttest folder" and bring back it from the archive. All the actions shouldn't be done manually, but with the help of a simple *bat file. We'll give it the title "start testing.bat".

rmdir /Q /S "D:automated software testingbackup experttest folder"
mkdir "D:automated software testingbackup experttest folder"
xcopy /S "D:automated software testingbackup expertarchtest folder" "D:automated software testingbackup experttest folder"
start C:"Program Files""Backup Expert"BackupExpert.exe

In the Test folder one can notice about 100 files placed in the main folder and in it's subfolders. The corporate size is 5 529 784 bytes. The size should be seen in the packed folder features (unpacked size).

Now everything is prepared for the autoclicker work. This software should press Record and directly after which we stop it with pressing Shift twice to insert the above said *bat file (it must restore the original test folder). Next we agree to start the application.

Next, in the autoclicker program we need to press "Continue Record" and, with the help of Pixel Conrol alone, we record the test clicks on Backup Expert (we should do all tasks suggested by the wizard to show the software what and how to pack). Straight after producing the job "Automated software testing", with the aid of Pixel Control we are to record the task to lauch packing. In autoclicker table of events we must observe Pixel Control pieces.

The last 3 events are blue, as they were inserted after the main Record had been created. These three events are very purposeful: event 45 - should wait until the packing is finished by seeing the message: "Status: Successful", event 46 - to run the resulting archive, action 47 - is made to control the size. It must be equal to 5 529 784 bytes, as the test folder must be regained and it's size should be the same.
