High quality Trance labels, back in the days when Trance came to the forefront in the late nineties, established themselves by releasing quality Trance music, getting CDs in shops and stocking record stores full of their records. There were some truly great releases around that time that really made some Trance labels what they are today.

Now, with the internet, there are so many new Trance labels to choose from when you're ready to release your music that it's hard to know where to start. So, where do you start?

Unless you are already an established producer with a good track record you may be better off going to independent or online Trance labels and presenting your work to them. Since 2000, credible Trance music has somewhat taken a back seat in the world of commercial Dance music so there's little chance of being picked up by a huge label unless it's verging on Pop.

Although I'm not recommending you settle on a small label, it's worth putting your material around to see what you are able to gain and obtain feedback from as many qualified sources as possible. If any Trance label isn't interested in your work for any reason try to find out why. If you don't know where you're faltering you have little hope of creating something worth publishing so it's worth hearing the criticism. It allows you to improve. As hard as it may be to hear, the chances are they know what they are talking about and will end up helping you in the long run.

Do some online research to find Trance labels that specialize in your style. Look for similar artists, quality productions and also look for producers that have some track record. This way you can see what kinds of circles the label works in and you can assess how well-suited they'll be to sign your music.

Once you've found a few labels to send your work to ensure your demo is as good as it can be. Road test the track in clubs, with friends, in cars and ensure it sounds great everywhere. Also make sure it gets reactions. If it doesn't then you may be doing something wrong.

Once you've found some Trance labels and you've started to get positive responses they may start talking about getting you signed up and contracts. It's a great feeling but don't let out that sigh of relief just yet. You need to start asking questions to make sure they are the right label to sign your hard work to - they may not promote your music as much as you'd think.
