Do you feel quite confident that the air your child breathes in is nice and clean? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately that is just not the case. Studies have shown indoor air to be anywhere from two to even ten times as dangerous as outdoor air! Pretty scary, isn't it?

You are probably wondering, what in the world is causing the indoor air quality to be so poor. The reason for this is due to a wide variety of factors. For those who have a home where someone smokes inside, that can certainly contribute to the problem. As many of us are well aware, second hand smoke can definitely cause a lot of harm to others, particularly to children.

Many of us really don't think twice when it comes to what household cleaning products we use. However, many of these products contain strong chemicals that when used release toxic fumes into the air. Is that really something we want our children breathing in? I think not. Fortunately, it is becoming more and more common to see household cleaning products made out of more natural ingredients on the market today. I would highly recommend using these products rather than the traditional cleansers that contain such a high concentration of dangerous chemicals.

Also, did you know that even your daily beauty regimen might be negatively affecting the indoor air quality of your home? Unfortunately, this is absolutely true! Certain beauty products including aerosol hairspray can cause toxic fumes to be released into the air. Nail polish remover is another beauty product that can cause problems. Whenever possible, I would highly recommend using non-acetone nail polish remover as this is at least somewhat less toxic than the regular acetone version.

Fortunately, there is a solution to help ensure that the air in your home is safe for your children, as well as for your entire family. You can hire someone to come in to your home and conduct air quality testing. This will help to target what specific pollutants are contributing to poor air quality in your home. The air quality testing expert can then recommend specific steps that you can take in order to make sure that the air you and your family breathe is as pure and fresh as possible.

Best of luck to you, and I hope that you and your family enjoy breathing fresh, clean air in your home for many years to come!
