Although most people believe Candida affects only women. It commonly appears in a man too. In men it affects the groin area and generates soreness, itching and redness of the foreskin, head of the penis and scrotum. In many cases, the male sexual organs present small, white colored spots and the patient experiences rushes and burning sensations while he has sexual contact. Men that haven’t had a circumcision are the most exposed to this condition, because Candida develops in sweaty, warm and irritated areas. There are situations in which the foreskin becomes inflamed and may even crack due to the allergen. Men with diabetes are at increased risk. Other triggers for this infection are certain cosmetic products.

Is Candida a sexually transmitted disease? It is a controversial matter among medical specialists and holistic health care communities. Everyone of us has a small quantity of yeast cells inside the body. The intriguing fact is that sexually inactive men are more likely to develop the disease. In case of intercourse between two male partners, condoms and lubricant use may lead to yeast infection of the anus. In case a woman has Candida, she will probably pass it on to her male sexual partner.

The traditional treatment for yeast infections consists in antifungals administered as creams and medicines, but there are also alternative treatments. Candida has an extremely rapid multiplication in case some environmental conditions are met (darkness, moisture); to reduce the risk you should dress in a way that allows your body to be well ventilated. You must avoid sexual contact when you are on treatment for Candida. Try not to exhaust yourself and avoid activities that make you sweat. Maintain a good hygiene and try to use showers instead of bathtubs.

Tea Tree oil and plain unscented soaps are highly recommended. Cranberry juice (unsweetened) will clear the urinary tract and heal the lesions of the skin. Keep away from caffeine, bread, milk, mushrooms and sugar. Holistic healthcare also recommends to eat raw garlic but in order to avoid digestive problems consult your doctor.
