‘…In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."’- Rev.4:6-11(NIV).

First we must establish the fact that the place of true worship of God is spirit and truth, not flesh, not the church building or that your special place you carved out for worship where you will have no disturbance or interruption. "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth."- John 4:23-24(NIV). That’s another way of saying ‘in the Spirit’, that the Spirit is the place of worship. Being born again gets you in spirit, makes your spirit alive unto God, but being in spirit and truth keeps you in God’s presence. That is where true worship goes on. ‘But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.’- Heb.12:22(NIV).

There can be no true worship of God without a revelation of Him from Him. We may have the desire to know and worship Him but He takes the initiative to reveal Himself to us. If He does not reveal Himself to us we cannot truly know and worship Him. The eyes of our spirits ought to be open ‘all ways’ and always in the Spirit to see what He is showing us about Himself. That’s the reason the four living creatures have eyes all over, to see and to declare His glory any day, any time. And the twenty-four elders when they think they are done with worship after the preceding revelation of God lift up their eyes only to see another that gets them falling to their knees and removing their crowns. This is awesome. That’s true worship. You don’t force yourself to do it. It comes from your heart.

Now if expression of our worship of God must not only be in singing and praying but also in lifestyle, in every aspect of our lives, then here’s a glorious opportunity to always be in the Spirit. This is the kind of life God wants for us, always living by the revelation of Him which results in a reverent lifestyle, permeating every aspect of lives be it family, business, education, career, whatever. This is what will bring Him glory, causing our light to so shine before men that they too will glorify our Father in Heaven.

May this day be a turning point in our lives in our worship of God, may we from this day begin to have sincere hearts towards God and not be like those who worship with their mouths, their money, their reputation, their education, their knowledge, their position, their influence, their poverty, their problems et cetera but their hearts are faraway from Him. May we from this day become men who worship God and serve Him only (Matt.4:10), such that when we meet Him in judgment we will hear "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Come and enjoy your Masters happiness."
