Whether you are just a beginner at the game of golf or have been playing for several years, there is always something new for you to learn or some skill for you to perfect and there is no doubt that the best way to achieve that is with the help of a professional coach.

But the problem is that coaching can cost a lot of money.

At the top end of the scale you might consider enrolling at a golf school for an intensive course and immersing yourself for a full seven days in learning or improving one or two specific facets of your game. Costs will vary widely depending upon the school you choose and such things as the reputation of its instructors and the range of specialized training facilities which the school provides. In all cases however the cost is likely to be high and you can probably think about paying $1,000 to $2,000 or more for a course of this nature.

The next option you may consider is individual lessons with a local golf professional lasting perhaps 1 or 2 hours every day, or possibly only twice or three times each week. This option is certainly one which is well worth considering as an alternative to enrolling at a golf school, however it is still going to be reasonably expensive, especially if you discover that you have to continue your lessons for any length of time.

So what about a less expensive option?

An increasingly popular alternative today is to improve your game by watching DVDs in the comfort of your own home and, before you laugh at this method, you might wish to think about the range of DVDs currently being made by a lot of very respected professional golf instructors and the growing number of golfers who are choosing this particular form of tuition.

Not only do DVDs allow a professional golfer to come into your home and take you through every aspect of the game you can imagine in great detail and give you step by step exercises to follow yourself to master everything from improving your driving to hitting the perfect draw shot, but the real beauty of DVD instruction is that it lets you work at your own pace and replay each lesson over and over again and pick up every detail.

However, maybe best of all is that your own individual library of golf DVDs is not going to cost you a fortune.

Now, if you can afford it, attending a golf school or personal coaching with a local golf professional will almost certainly produce quicker and better results than learning from a series of DVDs. Instructional DVDs do however run a very close second and you certainly cannot beat them as far as cost is concerned.
