It’s very tempting to read all the ads about people making thousands of $$$ per month, and in these ads, it is usually promised to happen quickly and seemingly without any other effort than buying the particular product, i.e. e-book, video or whatever. Then just few simple steps and you are ready…

The truth is always little different, and surely nobody really believes that a fortune can be made by just spending say 50$ on a downloadable e-book. It just sounds too good, and in this case the sound is correct…

Having a web site is important, but we need to get traffic to our page and that is going to cost even more, we also have to spread the word around the internet, without spamming of course, and to the correct places. This is the hard part, but the more we spend time and effort doing this, the more we will eventually profit. As an affiliate we are not selling any services, we just try to lead people through our website, or our Google ads to the product, and hope the people directed are interested enough to buy the product, and we finally get our commission.

All this affiliate work can be compared to an agency who promotes some artists. Let’s imagine that a company is having a party and they need some kind of entertainment, so what do they do? They most probably call an agency and ask what they can recommend, or maybe they already have someone in mind, and they know they can get this program by contacting the agency. The agency contacts the artist, the deal is closed and the agency gets a certain commission. This is very much the same that happens as an affiliate, we are not promoting artists, but products.

Having said that, it is not enough for the agency to just sit around and wait for the phone calls from big companies. The agency has to be well known, they have to do a reliable trustworthy work and the commission has to be fair. This takes time, money and effort, and doesn't happen overnight. Also they need to have many different artists on their list to fulfill the needs of different clients.

Summing this up, means that whatever we do, effort and work has to be put down. Only then and if you’re lucky, something might start to happen. And it’s only fair it is like this. What sounds too good is too good, you are probably just reading a very well composed advertisement… there are so many out there!

Knowing this is common sense and important to be aware of. If these requirements are met and fulfilled, we can make it as affiliates as well as in any other business.

Good luck. Kim Wist
