Not being able to identify the cause will only bring temporary results no matter how effective you perceive the applied treatment is. It is not enough to treat acne at its symptoms since it will just relief you for some time and then find its way back to your skin.

However, constant vigorous scrubbing because you're worried about poor hygiene can actually irritate the skin and make matters much worse.
