What most women fail to understand is the fact that their handbags are actually a part of their attire. Sometimes, the dress, shoes and jewelries look perfectly well but the biggest fashion faux pas is committed by carrying the wrong handbag. It can easily make or break the entire ensemble.

The first thing you should consider when choosing a handbag is the shape. Always keep in mind that shape has to be the opposite of your body type. If you are lean and tall, a rounded hobo bag fits you best because it will perfectly complement your figure. If you are, otherwise, voluptuous and short, something rectangular and tall such as a nice clutch will look good on you.

Always keep in mind that the shorter and rounder you are, the more structured the handbag should be. It does not mean though that you should opt for something quadrilateral and sturdy. Square bags made of soft leathers, fabrics and other fluffy materials will do the trick.

You don’t need to worry about finding a handbag that perfectly fits your body proportion. You have several kinds to choose from. You have the totes which are open-top bags that have either a strap or a handle. There are the crescent-shape hobo bags which are perfect for the tall and thin.

Athletic women will enjoy their duffle bag because they can easily slip in their running shoes into the tall shoulder bag that has a wide opening. Corporate women would love their handy dandy field bags which are flat top shoulder bags that are often closed with a buckle, snaps or clips. It is easy to bring them along with you when shopping.

Clutches, on the other hand, are perfect for formal events when all you need to bring is a lipstick, your keys and a few dollar bills. If you are going to the grocery, a handheld bag is also more advisable for you. But you don’t want to bring the same clutch. Instead, you want a bigger one—something like a satchel.

Now you know why women should have several bags in their closets. You just can’t use the same old backpack you had in high school. There is a handbag for every occasion, function and attire.
