Getting married abroad can limit your opportunity to have in person meetings with the people that you hire to make your wedding in Italy perfect. Face to face meetings are optimal, but unless you plan to visit Italy prior to your wedding, you may have to rely on email, phone calls, websites and recommendations when making wedding arrangements. Having an Italian wedding planner can make this process easier, but it can also limit you to who your Italian wedding planner uses on a regular basis.

When I was getting married in Italy, I went on a mad hunt for the perfect Italy wedding photographer. I used every resource that I could get my hands on. I called everyone that I could think of and searched endlessly on the web. Ironically, the first Italy wedding photographer I came across is the one that I ended up using!

Choosing an Italy wedding photographer comes down to a few things:

Type of Photos: Are you looking for the standard variety of wedding photos, more candid shots or more artistic shots? Do you want black & white as well as color? Many wedding photographers shoot with both digital and film to give you a variety of shots. Look at the examples on their website and make sure that they photograph in the style that you want.

Choosing Your Album Pictures: Is choosing which photos to be included in your wedding album important? If so, what is the photographer's process to allow you to choose from the USA? Does the photographer have a website that you can use to see your photos to decide which pictures you would like in your album?

Ordering More Prints: Many Italy wedding photographers will give you the CD and negatives of your pictures and allow you to make as many copies as you want. This is something that can be very valuable because you live in the USA and reordering prints will be difficult a year or two after your wedding in Italy.

Travel Costs: Many Italy wedding photographers have regions that they cover, so just because they are not based in a particular area, doesn't mean that they will not travel to that area. However, definitely inquire if there are any additional fees.

The Wedding Album: What type of wedding albums does the photographer offer? Maybe a scrapbook-like album or possibly a coffee table printed album? Many Italy wedding photographers offer multiple options, multiple prices. Confirm that you understand all of the costs and options before you decide on an album.

References: Ask the Italy wedding photographer for a few references in the USA. If they do not have any USA references, then you can ask if they have any references for any English speaking brides in the UK, Australia and Europe. Contact the references and get a feel for the Italy wedding photographer's work history.

Your perfect Italy wedding photographer will be easy to find if you know exactly what you want.
