The time has finally come! The proposal has been accepted, the gorgeous ring is on your finger and the butterflies and jitters are still abuzz. Now the real fun begins - planning your big wedding celebration with your one true love.

One of the most important aspects of a wedding is the color scheme of the event. Not only does choosing your main color help to focus the overall look of the event, but it also enables you to coordinate beautiful accent colors, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, wedding favors and more. When choosing a color palette, be sure to pick one you’ll be able to live with for awhile. Remember that you’re going to be planning your wedding - and every last details - from anywhere between a few months to years, so the last thing you want is to tire of an element that will determine every aspect of your wedding! You should choose a color that is the most YOU - meaning it’s something that makes you feel the emotion you’re looking to experience on the big day - whether it’s love, romance, comfort, passion, strength, friendship…or even all of the above!

One of the trendiest colors of the season that has come straight off the fashion runways of New York and Paris are the many gorgeous shades of purple. From lavender, to plum to violet, and even shades of magenta, purple hues are making a major comeback. Purple is one of the most easily colors to compliment, meaning it coordinates extremely well with various hues of green, orange, blue, brown and pink. This heavenly shade even works wonderfully with white, black, gold and silver. Incorporating this color into your wedding ceremony and reception is extremely easy, accenting any wedding in even the most dramatic or subtle ways.

One of the most obvious (and gorgeous) ways to truly highlight this hue is in your wedding bouquet. Some of the most beautiful flowers come in varying shades of purple - such as hydrangeas, sweet peas, roses, orchids, and even carnations. Also be sure to incorporate other subtle colors throughout your arrangement, such as white, green and pink to create a truly beautiful mix of colors. Another great way to utilize your primary and complementary colors is throughout your reception décor, particularly with your wedding favors and table decorations. You can create truly remarkable statement pieces with your table décor - such as filling a square vase with a bunch of wild-picked purple flowers, surrounded by flickering white candles and crystal garland. You may even chose to accent your tables with symbolic elements that have shades of purple, such as butterflies, feathers or fairytale themed wedding favors. Utilize purple ribbon, table runners, garland, lanterns and escort or table cards. The sky is the limit when it comes to finding special pieces to use throughout the reception and ceremony…it’s all about details, details, details!

Remember to be creative and stay true to your vision when incorporating your choice color into your wedding day - this will be sure to make for a truly personal, one-of-a-kind event.
