To get noticed in the search engine ranking results, you need both on-page optimization and off-page optimization. The fact is that with the scope of on-page optimization is limited, so are the results you get from it, whereas, the scope of off-page optimization is infinite. You can perform several tasks, and one of the most important of these activities is link exchange. And when you are exchanging links, the anchor text is always critical. Experts are of the view that anchor bonding can help your website a great deal.

Link Popularity And Anchor Texts - How This Can Help Your Website

Almost every webmaster today realizes the importance of link popularity. But there are some others who do not fully realize how important the anchor text can be. If you are trying to increase the PR of your web page and want it to rank better, you should know that anchor texts are nothing but the visible part of a link. In other words, this is the text the viewer reads to decide whether they clicking on the link will be useful. Visitors can also form some idea about the content in the web page they are about to visit.

Search engines value the anchor text very much, because the text is relevant to the website. So to improve the relevance of your web page for a keyword, you will have to ensure that a large number of links with keywords in the anchor texts are pointing to your web pages. There are some webmasters who make the mistake of not including the keyword in the anchor text - this certainly reduces the relevance, and you will miss out on an opportunity.

This is known as anchor bonding. There can be two kinds of semantic bonding here, that is, "Strong" and "Weak." You have to know that the use of words is very important here. For example, strong semantic bonding will use strong words, and a weaker one will invariably be using weak words.

Understanding Strong And Weak Words

If you are using your keyword for anchor bonding, then you will surely be using strong words. Always use strong and relevant words, even if you cannot use the keyword for some reason. Try to be as distinct as possible. For example, some webmasters make the mistake of linking such words as "click here." The fact is that these words are extremely common on the Internet and are thus very weak. Also, for both the viewer and the search engine, such words are irrelevant, because they do not convey any meaning and information.

If your website is about vehicles, the word "automobile" can be a stronger word than car for anchor bonding. But do remember that this can be different depending on the target market. For example, automobile is a strong word in the United States but not in the United Kingdom. So it is important to keep in mind the target market.

Gluing Anchors - Does This Work?

This is another very important issue. In an effort to boost their link popularity, some webmasters use the same keywords many times in the anchor text. This is not a good idea because the search engines might take this as an effort to spam.

Gluing anchor is not a myth - it is a reality. In other words, if you have used the same keyword for anchor bonding several times, then the search engine crawler will glue them all and take them as a single link. This is possible because the destination URL remains the same for all these links. So if you require many incoming links, the better approach will be to use different keywords when you are trying anchor bonding.

If you are using your keyword for anchor bonding, then you will surely be using strong words. Always use strong and relevant words, even if you cannot use the keyword for some reason.
