Are you in love with a plus size woman? Wondering what to buy her that could show her just what she means to you?

Wonder no more. Buy that woman some beautiful lingerie! Let her know how beautiful she is and that she turns you on.

Most women have a few body acceptance issues. Witness the cruel dieting that rules the runway model lifestyle. The media passes on this obsession with "thin." From the time women are little girls they are faced with glossy pictures on the front of magazines and most of those pictures are of very thin women. The diet craze reaches down to younger and younger girls leading to eating disorders and poor self-image.

Women who have always been thin go to the gym to be even thinner. Little size 4 ladies mumble about needing to lose 5 pounds.

For plus size women there is a fight for confidence from the outset. Big women must overcome society's opinion of what is desirable and beautiful. They must form their own opinions. Perhaps large ladies really know themselves emotionally and psychologically better than most. They must learn early that who they are is not dictated by the publishers of magazines or fashion designers.

Maybe that's what made the love of your life so special to you. Yes, she is beautiful and you find her irresistable to touch--but perhaps it was that spark of knowing who she is that kept you coming back and getting to know her.

Confident women don't need to focus on themselves. They have nothing to prove and are not begging for acceptance. When people really know themselves and are sure of who they are and what they stand for, they can concentrate on others. They can truly listen with interest to what another person has to say. They are not compelled to tell you things about themselves that will convince you that they are worthy of your love or attention. This is an attractive quality that we should all strive for as healthy adults. This is, no doubt, the quality that made you fall in love with that special woman in your life.

But don't read "confidence" as ego or, conversely, as disinterest. Even the most healthy among us love to be noticed. We all like approval even if we can survive well without it.

No one's self-image takes a beating in the mainstream entertainment industry like a plus size woman. To be completely untouched by it or unaffected by the bias would take steel resolve.

There are women out there who refuse to go to major life events because of their weight. I'm talking about women missing their friends' weddings and their childrens' graduations. These are the gut-wrenching depths to which Hollywood reaches.

We may not have the ability to make a big difference in this area. Hollywood will continue to do whatever makes the most money. They will continue to airbrush photos and set unrealistic expectations for everyone in the hopes of selling the products that they assure us will, indeed, allow us to reach those very same (still unrealistic) expectations.
