I am a mother of three grown children and a proud grandmother of seven grandchildren. I can honestly tell you that even though I love the flowers and the lunches or dinners, what I really love is the memories and the love that I have for my children and the love that they have for me.

Mother’s Day, for me, is a day that I remember when my children were born and how tiny they were. I have memories of their first bath and of rapping them in a towel. Memories of laughing when they smiled - the hugs, the kisses, and watching them grow into the wonderful adults and parents that they have become.

So, if you are going to get mom something for Mother’s Day and you really want to make it special buy her something to remind her of the days when you were little and put a note on it saying "I'm glad you’re my mom". Or, buy her something for her garden and include a note saying. "I remember helping you care for your garden and I miss that, Mom." Make it personal, make it real and most of all, DO IT FROM THE HEART!

I know we all live in a busy world and we sometimes only have time to stop and buy mom a card or send flowers or phone her to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day. Yes, it is nice to be remembered on Mother’s Day but it is nice to know that you took the time to express true feelings of love.

Moms are very special people. They love their children always - no matter what.

I regret that I never expressed to my mother how special she was. I bought her flowers and cards but never told her how special she was. She is gone now and

I think about her often. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for her and I know that now.

Make your mom feel special this Mother’s Day. Let her know that you cherish her and always will. You will warm her heart and, yes, you might even make her cry. But, those will be tears of love and you can’t do any better than that.

Happy Mother’s Day to all those moms reading this. You are special and your children are special.

Remember - she is the only mom you have!
