The need for professional development is great. The government is becoming increasingly aware of this fact as well. Because of this requirement, professional development grants have been devised to promote this area of self development by making the person in question, eligible to qualify for funds. Teaching personnel are automatically included in the eligibility criteria and the only other clause is that they should have at least concluded 6 months of continuous employment. These funds help people to attend short courses, seminars, workshops and conferences.

There are many prominent educational institutes and establishments in the U.S. which conduct professional development classes and include both Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

These programs help in determining for the educators the role, purpose and organizing of the schooling with regard to the increasingly diverse pupils and communities they serve.

With rapid change in teaching techniques, professional development should not be taken as a teaching accessory but should be revered as a synergistic, self improvement program that can work wonders.
