First let's dispel the myth. No. You cannot make your fortune overnight in your pyjamas simply by running a blog. However now for the truth, yes you can make money by blogging, if you work hard enough it is possible to create a second income. But like so much in life it takes time, perseverance and a lot of dedication.

I'll show you how.

First create a list of all your interests, hobbies and specialised knowledge that you may profess to know something about. Try to make that list as long as you can. Put it aside for 24 hours, adding to it as you remember anything else you are passionate about. The following day return to the list and ask yourself honestly. Could you write a piece about that subject everyday for say a month? If there is anything on the list that you doubt delete it.

Now think again, a month okay that's 30 postings to your blog, but you will have to sustain that blog for ‘infinity and beyond'. How does that alter your list?

We are talking here about you earning a substantial income, once set up a blog should only take you about 15 minutes a day. That's 4 in an hour. If you can give 2/3 hours a day to blogging and you can maintain several subjects. There is no reason why you cannot run 10-12 blogs a day to start with.

The secret to writing a successful blog is to keep it simple, lively, use everyday language. Make it personal; let your viewers feel they are getting to know you and they will return every day. A blog to both writer and reader should be addictive with both eager to catch the next instalment.

The first stage to earning any kind of revenue from your blog is to place ads on all of your blogs. You will get paid for every click your viewers make. Then as your readers come to trust you, it will be time to introduce some sales recommendations. Search for suitable affiliate programs to benefit your blog content. If you have matched your products to your target audience, sales should follow. Over the course of one week you will be gaining pay per click revenue and at least a couple of healthy affiliate commissions, now multiply this by 10 or 12 blogs and you should start very soon to see a definite income.

The one ingredient you need is traffic, the more readers you have, the more revenue you will gain. Promote your blogs, publish articles and visit forums, each time placing a link back to your sites.

As your blogs grow you can reduce the input to 2-3 times a week, meanwhile your experience will have taught you which topics are particular favourites and generate the maximum amount of revenue. This is when you start to introduce new blogs and the process begins again. Top bloggers today maintain upwards of 30-40 blogs at one time.

I think you will see from the above that yes with a little hard work on your part it is possible to realise that you can make blogging a full time career.
