How to Create True Bliss in Your Life

Most of us, if asked, would say that what we want most from life is to be happy – to have true bliss in our lives. But what does true bliss actually mean? The truth is that it means different things to everybody. True bliss is perhaps a state of mind rather than any external conditions to us which we feel we need to make us happy.

What is strange is that although people want to achieve true bliss in their lives, few people plan to get it. If you wanted something really badly in your career or family life, wouldn’t you plan it? Then why don’t you plan to achieve true bliss? That just seems to make sense, surely?

What will make you happy? Yes, true bliss is a state of mind, but there’s no harm in giving it a helping hand by creating the right circumstances. Once you can decide upon a few things that will make you happy, then you can plan to get them. Even making progress towards your objectives will then cause you happiness, even before the objective itself is achieved. Remember – life is a journey so you may as well enjoy the ride!

Write a list of a few things that will help you achieve true bliss. Beside each of them, write down how long you spend each week trying to achieve these objectives. Go on – stop reading this article and go and write that list – now!

Ok – so are you back with me now? You’ve probably been shocked but how little time you spend doing the things that make you really happy.

You have the power to change that and to keep on helping yourself achieve true bliss – it’s not an ultimate state of affairs that is way off in the future; it could be here and now if you wanted it to be. You could have a time when you experience true bliss every day of your life if you wanted to. All it takes is a little imagination.

How to bring true bliss into your life First, start living in the present. Enjoy what you have here and now. Forget about that meeting you have coming up or that things have changed in your relationship as the first hot flush of desire passes. Just think what you have now.

Take a deep breath and make yourself smile. Feel yourself becoming calmer and more relaxed. Feel your breathing slowing and your heart rate decreasing. Your blood pressure will lower, making you naturally feel more relaxed. That state of true bliss is coming your way!

Think of something good in your life – something that really makes you feel happy. It could be a smile from your partner, a hug from your kids, the sight of raindrops on rose petals – anything, so long as it makes you feel happy. Focus on how that makes you feel and just enjoy the feeling for a while before again becoming aware of your surroundings. Just bring that happy feeling back to reality with you. Then from there on it, whenever you feel the need for a slice of your own pure bliss, you can focus on that image - something which makes you happy - and re-create that feeling as if by magic. Smile – and the whole world will wonder what your secret of true bliss is!
